Manali to Kaza via Atal Tunnel & Kunzum Pass

Start the journey early in the morning from Manali towards Kaza.

The route takes you through the Atal Tunnel and onward into the rugged landscapes of Lahaul. Continue through Chhatru and Batal before ascending towards the spectacular Kunzum Pass, subject to road and weather conditions.

Sightseeing Points:

• Atal Tunnel: A major engineering landmark connecting Manali with the Lahaul Valley.
• Chhatru: A scenic stop surrounded by rugged Himalayan landscapes.
• Batal: A remote mountain location on the Manali–Kaza route.
• Kunzum Pass: At an altitude of approximately 4,551 metres (14,931 feet), Kunzum Pass offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Continue the journey towards Kaza through the dramatic landscapes of Spiti Valley.
• Kaza: The journey from Manali to Kaza is one of the most scenic and adventurous road journeys in Himachal Pradesh, with dramatic changes in landscape from green mountain valleys to the arid terrain of the Trans-Himalayas.

Kaza to Mudh Village in Pin Valley & Tabo

After breakfast, proceed towards Mudh Village in Pin Valley.

Sightseeing Points:

• Pin Valley: Drive through the scenic Pin Valley, known for its rugged mountains, alpine vegetation and remote Himalayan villages.
• Mudh Village: Mudh Village is one of the last inhabited villages in Pin Valley and is popular starting point for treks in the region. After exploring Mudh, continue towards Tabo.
• Tabo Monastery: Tabo is famous for the ancient Tabo Monastery, one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayan region. Founded in 996 CE, the monastery is renowned for its historic murals, sculptures and traditional Tibetan Buddhist artwork.

Overnight stay at a hotel/homestay in Tabo.

Tabo to Dhankar, Hikkim, Komic & Langza

After breakfast, depart for Dhankar.

Dhankar Monastery: Visit Dhankar Monastery, dramatically located above the Spiti River and surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. The area offers impressive views of the Spiti Valley and surrounding Himalayan landscape.

Continue towards the famous high-altitude village circuit covering:

• Langza: Famous for its giant Buddha statue, mountain scenery and fossil-rich surroundings.
• Hikkim: Known for its high-altitude post office and spectacular views.
• Komic: One of the highest permanently inhabited villages in the region accessible by a motorable road.

After exploring these remote villages, return to Kaza.

Kaza to Key Monastery, Kibber and Chandratal Lake

After breakfast, proceed towards Key Monastery, one of the most iconic landmarks of Spiti Valley.

Sightseeing Points:

• Key Monastery: Key Monastery is a historic Tibetan Buddhist monastery dramatically situated on a hilltop overlooking the Spiti Valley. It is an important centre of Buddhist learning and culture in the region.
• Kibber Village: Continue towards Kibber Village and Chicham Bridge. A beautiful high-altitude village known for traditional houses and dramatic mountain scenery.
• Chicham Bridge: A spectacular bridge spanning a deep Himalayan gorge.
• Chandratal Lake: After sightseeing, continue towards Kunzum Pass and onward to Chandratal Lake. Known as the "Moon Lake", Chandratal is famous for its beautiful crescent-shaped appearance and crystal-clear waters surrounded by spectacular Himalayan peaks.

Overnight stay at camps near Chandratal Lake.

Chandratal Lake to Manali

After breakfast, depart from Chandratal Lake towards Manali.

Enjoy the spectacular mountain landscapes of the Lahaul region as you travel towards Manali.

On arrival in Manali, the tour concludes with beautiful memories of the Spiti Valley and the Himalayas.
